Tigers are the animal species, possessing reddish orange-colored coats with vertical black-colored stripes along shoulders and flanks varying in spacing, length, and size. The undersides of throats, muzzles, chests, bellies, and limbs are light or white-colored. In contrast to it, lions have strong, compact bodies with yellow-gold-colored coatings. They possess strong teeth, jaws, and forelegs for attacking prey.   • Lions inhabit open woodlands, dense scrubs, savanna, and grasslands. They are present in Chad, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Sudan, Somalia, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Senegal, Niger, Gabon, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Benin, and Angola. 
  • There are present eight subspecies of these animal species, including Amur tiger, Bengal tiger, South Chinese tiger, Indo Chinese tiger, Sumatran tiger, Javan, and Balinese tiger, and Caspian tiger (extinct). 
  • There is only one recognized lion species called Panthera leo. Still, the various types of these animal species include White lion, Katanga lion, African, Asiatic lion and lioness, Abyssinian lion, and Masai lion.

  • Like all other animal species, tigers also require proper food to meet their survival needs. They primarily feed on prey ranging in size from tiny termites to large-sized elephants, including buffaloes, goats, cows, pigs, deer species, moose, etc. 
  • Lions primarily love to feed on medium to large-sized hoofed animals, including lizards, tortoises, hares, birds, mice, etc. Furthermore, adult males eat 16 pounds or more each day, while adult females appear to eat 11 pounds of meat every day.

  • Lions show aggressive behavior by retracting their ears, displaying dark-colored patches behind the ears, twitching their tails in irritation, and showing their canine teeth. 
  • These animal species communicate with each other using their tails. A tiger with loosely hanging tails is relaxed, enhancing its scent communication using visual markings, e.g. scrapes on the trees and grounds.
  • Lions get communicated to each other by nuzzling, head rubbing, a variety of vocalizations, including hissing, miaws, snarls, purrs. The vocalizations of these animal species vary in pitch and intensity.
  • Tigers can have an average lifespan of 26 years in the wild. Their females give birth to almost two to four cubs, doing every two years. Due to various threats, the cubs do not survive for more than two years.
  • Like all other animal species, lions also live for specific years. For example, the average lifespan of these animal species is twenty-five years in captivity and almost eight to ten years in the wild.
